Winning an Auction: Payment and Cascades

Person4 min

What happens when you win a Vyete auction — the payment window, payment deadline, and cascade offers if the winner forfeits.

When an auction closes with you as the highest bidder (and the reserve is met), you move into the payment phase. Here is exactly what to expect.

You have won — what now?

When you win, the auction status changes to Awaiting Payment and you receive a notification. You have a limited window — called the payment window — to complete your purchase. The exact deadline is shown on the auction detail screen and in your notification.

Go to your myhub

Open vyete.com and tap the myhub icon. Under Auctions you will see the won auction flagged with a payment due alert.

Review your winning bid

Open the auction and confirm the winning amount, the item details, and the fulfilment shop that will process your order.

Tap Pay Now

Tap Pay Now to proceed to checkout. Your payment method options and the total amount due are shown here.

Complete payment before the deadline

Finish checkout before the payment deadline countdown reaches zero. Once payment is confirmed, the auction moves to Completed and your order is created with the fulfilment shop.

Warning

The payment window varies by auction — it is set by the seller and is shown clearly on your win notification and the auction detail screen. Missing this deadline forfeits your win.

What happens if you miss the payment deadline

If you do not pay within the payment window, the auction status changes to Forfeited and your win is cancelled. Vyete then sends a cascade offer to the next highest bidder.

Repeatedly missing payment deadlines may affect your ability to participate in future auctions.

Cascade offers — being next in line

A cascade offer means you were one of the highest bidders on an auction where the original winner forfeited. Vyete offers you the chance to purchase the item at your highest bid amount.

Receiving a cascade offer

When a cascade offer is sent to you, you will receive a notification and the offer will appear in your myhub under Pending Cascade Offers. Each offer has an expiry time — act before it expires.

Responding to a cascade offer

Open the cascade offer

Go to myhub → Pending Cascade Offers or tap the notification to open the offer directly.

Review the offer details

Check the item, the offer amount (your original highest bid), and the expiry countdown.

Accept or decline

  • Tap Accept to proceed to checkout and pay your bid amount.
  • Tap Decline if you no longer want the item. The offer will then be sent to the next bidder in line.

Cascade offer statuses

| Status | What it means | |---|---| | Pending | The offer is active and waiting for your response. | | Accepted | You accepted and completed payment. The order is being fulfilled. | | Declined | You declined the offer. It has moved to the next bidder. | | Expired | The offer expiry time passed before you responded. It has moved to the next bidder. | | Cancelled | The auction was cancelled after the cascade offer was sent. No action is needed. |

Tip

Check myhub → Pending Cascade Offers any time you have been a bidder on an auction that entered Forfeited status. Cascade offers can arrive hours after an auction closes, so it is worth checking even if you have not received a notification.

Common questions

Q: Will I be charged if I do not respond to a cascade offer?

A: No. Cascade offers are non-binding until you accept and complete payment. Declining or letting an offer expire does not result in any charge.

Q: Can I negotiate the price on a cascade offer?

A: No. The cascade offer price is your original bid amount from the auction. You can accept at that price or decline.

Q: What if all cascades are declined or expired — what happens to the auction?

A: If no bidder in the cascade chain completes payment, the auction ends without a sale. The seller may choose to relist the item as a new auction.

Q: How long is a cascade offer open?

A: The expiry time is set by the seller and shown on your cascade offer screen. It varies by auction — respond as soon as you can to avoid missing the window.
