Placing and Managing Your Bids

How to place a manual bid or set a proxy bid, understand your bid status, and retract a bid on Vyete auctions.

There are two ways to bid on a Vyete auction: a manual bid, where you set a specific amount, or a proxy bid, where you set a maximum and let Vyete bid on your behalf automatically.

Placing a manual bid

Open the auction

Go to the Auctions tab on vyete.com and tap the auction you want to bid on.

Enter your bid amount

Tap Place Bid and enter an amount. Your bid must be at least the current bid plus the minimum increment shown on the auction. The increment is either a fixed amount or a percentage of the current bid — whichever the seller set.

Confirm your bid

Review the amount and confirm. Your bid is placed immediately and the live bid feed updates in real time.

Setting a proxy bid

A proxy bid lets Vyete automatically outbid other bidders on your behalf, up to a maximum amount you set. The system only bids the minimum necessary to keep you in the lead — it will not jump straight to your maximum.

Open the auction and choose Proxy Bid

Tap Set Proxy Bid on the auction detail screen.

Set your maximum amount

Enter the highest amount you are willing to pay. This is your private maximum — it is never shown to other bidders.

Confirm

Tap Confirm. Vyete will now bid automatically whenever someone outbids you, stopping when your maximum is reached. Automatic bids are marked with a proxy indicator on the bid feed.

Note

If another bidder has also set a proxy bid, the system will outbid each other automatically until one proxy maximum is exceeded. You may be outbid instantly after placing a proxy bid if a higher proxy was already in place.

Understanding your bid status

Every bid you place has a status:

| Status | What it means | |---|---| | Winning | You are currently the highest bidder. | | Active | Your bid is placed but someone has bid higher — you are no longer leading. Consider placing a new bid or increasing your proxy. | | Outbid | Another bidder has surpassed your bid. You will receive a notification so you can decide whether to bid again. | | Retracted | You withdrew this bid before the auction closed. |

Bid limits

Each auction may have a maximum bids per person limit set by the seller. Once you reach this limit you cannot place additional bids on that auction. The limit is shown on the auction detail screen.

Retracting a bid

Go to the auction

Open the auction detail page for the auction you bid on.

Find your bid

Scroll to the bid history section and locate your active bid.

Tap Retract Bid

Tap Retract Bid and provide a brief reason. Retraction is only available while the auction is still Active — once the auction closes or enters Reserve Window, bids are held.

Warning

Retracting bids frequently may affect your standing on the platform. Only retract if you have a genuine reason, such as entering the wrong amount or a change in the item details.

Common questions

Q: Can I lower a bid I have already placed?

A: No. You can retract a bid and place a lower one, but the system requires each new bid to exceed the current highest bid plus the minimum increment, so placing a lower bid is only possible if another bidder has not raised the auction above your previous amount.

Q: What happens if I am outbid while I have a proxy set?

A: If your proxy maximum has not been reached, the system will automatically counter-bid on your behalf. You will only receive an outbid notification if someone exceeds your proxy maximum.

Q: Do I get notified when I am outbid?

A: Yes. Enable push notifications or email alerts in your notification settings at id.vyete.com to receive real-time outbid alerts.
